Man Shot After Pointing Gun At NYPD Officer

Brooklyn -  A 24-year-old armed man who pulled a gun on a police officer has been shot by the NYPD officer in the Crown Heights section of Brooklyn.



The shooting happened at 12:15 pm when the officer attempted to stop the suspect for reckless driving at Montgomery Street and Brooklyn Avenue. The suspect opened the door of the vehicle and started fleeing on foot. The officer gave chase. The suspect turned, pulled a gun from his pocket and pointed the weapon at the police officer, a 14-year NYPD veteran. The officer discharged his weapon twice, hitting the suspect twice in his lower right hip, police sources said.

The suspect was transferred to Kings County Hospital where he was listed in serious but stable condition.



The suspect’s silver 9mm firearm was recovered at the scene, police said.
