More than a dozen hurt after truck crashes into bus in Queens

A flat-bed lumber truck crashed into a MTA bus Monday morning in the Jamaica section of Queens, injuring more than a dozen people, cops said.

The incident happened at 11:54 a.m. at the intersection of South Road and Waltham Street.

The driver for Metropolitan Lumber and Hardware Home told The Post that the crash happened while he was trying to inch his way onto Waltham Street. He accused the bus driver of speeding.

“I came to the stop sign, and I stopped and was creeping out,” said the driver, who refused to give his name.

“The bus was speeding down Waltham, and it swerved when it saw me. He was in the wrong, but somehow I’m going to be responsible, since my street had the stop sign.”

Emergency services took the bus driver and 14 bus passengers to hospitals for treatment of minor injuries, cops said.

No one has been charged, at least yet, in the incident.
