Four FDNY Chiefs Promoted, Including Chief of Operations


Four FDNY staff chiefs were promoted in a ceremony at FDNY Headquarters on Aug. 30, including Chief James Esposito to the rank of Chief of Operations.

He replaces Chief of Operations Robert Sweeney, who is retiring from the FDNY to become Commissioner of the Yonkers Fire Department.

3 Under Arrest After Robbery In Spring Valley


On Wednesday 08/29/12 at approximately at 14:30 hours, the Spring Valley police got a call about one male/black that jumped an Hispanic woman at the corner of Franklin Street and Van Orden Av and tore off her jewelry then fled in a blue Nissan Pathfinder

A description of the perpetrator and the vehicle went out to all officers on patrol in the village.

All Hands Fire In Brooklyn Pizza Shop


Marine Park - A fire broke out Tuesday noon at Franks Pizaa located at 2134 Flatbush Ave.

Arriving FDNY units advised they got a working fire in the duct-work with extension to the roof.

Car Fire On Route 59


Nanuet - A fully involved car fire shut down parts of route 59 for about a half hour Tuesday afternoon.

The fire broke out in front of 128 East Route 59 near Collage road.

No injuries were reported.

MVA With Entrapment On McDonald Ave In BK


Brooklyn - Multiple Agencies were called to the scene of a car that hit a poll on McDonald Avenue between Bay parkway and Avenue M in the Flatbush section of Brooklyn.

The driver of the car was trapped and removed by FDNY in stable condition an transported to the hospital.

Another patient was also taken to the hospital in stable condition by the ambulance crew.

Brooklyn Serial Silver Thief In Custody By The NYPD & BSSP

Boro Park - Cops arrested a man they say brazenly broke into a Brooklyn home to steal a menorah made of pure silver worth $10,000.

Denis Ildatov, 25, was busted Monday and charged with burglary and possession of stolen property for the heist of the religious antique about 10:30 p.m. on Aug. 21, police said.

Fire in Controversial Homeless Shelter Sparked by Cigarette




Upper West Side - A fire at a controversial West 95th Street homeless shelter that sent dozens of firefighters racing to the scene was sparked by a cigarette, officials said.

The blaze broke out in a mattress on the fourth floor of 316 W. 95th St., between West End Avenue and Riverside Drive (FDNY box 1240), just before 11 a.m. and was quickly doused by buidling's sprinkler system, the FDNY said.

Five Hurt In Queens House Fire




Glendale - FDNY units responded to the scene of a fire at 69-18 66th Street, between 70th Av and Otto road (Box 5116) early Tuesday.

Tower Ladder 135 transmitted a 10-75 assignment for a 2 story Frame, 25x40, with fire on the 1st floor in the rear of the structure.

The fire was brought under control in 25 minutes. 5 10-45 (fire victim) code 3's (non-life threatening serious injury) were reported.

Woman On Scooter Killed By TT On Sixth Ave


A 58-year-old woman on a small metal scooter was struck and killed by a tractor trailer on Sixth Avenue that dragged her under its wheels for two blocks Monday morning, officials said.

The woman was riding her scooter westbound across Sixth Avenue at West Houston Street when the massive vehicle made a right turn from Houston onto Sixth Avenue and plowed into her just before 9 a.m., the NYPD said.

The woman was caught in one of the rear tires of the massive truck and dragged for about two blocks.

The New York City Fire Department Battalion Chiefs are about to get newer rigs which contains a big box on a GMC Sierra 1500 with more space for more equipment and communications.

A man was killed and another was injured early Sunday in a shooting in the Pelham Parkway section of the Bronx.

Police responded to a 911 call just after 1 a.m. of a man shot at 805 Pelham Parkway North.

Drowning Victim Flown To Hospital In White Lake


The Catskills Hatzolah ordered a Medevac in white lake Thursday afternoon after a patient drowned in the a pool.

The landing zone was a mile up from the scene at the "Swinging Bridge Marina" were the patient was flown to the hospital.

Overturned Vehicle Caused Major Traffic On The NYS Thruway




Nanuet - The South Spring Valley and Tallman fire departments were dispatched Thursday to the scene of an accident on the NY State Thruway north bound right next to the Spring Valley Toll Barrier (btw Exit 13 & 14), with a report of a victim entrapped.

Upon arrival - along with the NY State Police - they found one vehicle that was overturned and another that was badly damaged on the over side of the roadway.

New York City residents, attending school, between the ages of 10 and 16 are eligible to attend. The Youth Police Academy will provide those participating in the program with lunch and uniform shirts. 

The Youth Police Academy is a six (6) week program that will hold sessions five (5) days a week. The Academy will open at 8:30 am in the morning and dismissal will be 2:00 pm in the afternoon.

Home Invasion By 3 Masked, Armed Men In Ramapo


Chestnut Ridge - On Wednesday Morning, August 22nd, 2012 at approximately 1:43 AM, the Town of Ramapo Police Department received a 911 call from a resident of 51 Sutin Place, in the Village of Chestnut Ridge. The caller stated that three (3) males wearing mask, and one brandishing a handgun forced their way into her residence, through the back door, stating they were police, and when they got into the house they forced their way into two bedrooms and forcibly restrained both the caller a 33 year old female, and her mother a 63 year old female.

Hatzolah Locates Missing Couple In Minnewaska State Park [VIDEO]


Wawarsing - A couple walking in Minnewska State Park in Ulster County were lost, Tuesday night, and rescue personnel were called to find them.

Catskills Hatzolah arrived at the park around 9:00PM, and established a command post – along with the Ulster County Sheriff Department, and DEC Police, arranged by UC Sheriff Chaplain Rabbi Joel Gold.

Fallsburg - A car driving on Glen Wild road was involved in accident after the hood of his car suddenly opened in the middle of driving, and blocked the drivers view.

The Catskill Hatzolah along with the Police dept and FD responded to the scene. No serious injuries were reported.

Patient Pinned In Car Accident On Route 17B


Monticello - The Catskills Hatzolah rushed to the scene of an MVA on the route 17B Tuesday afternoon and requested the Monticello fire departments for an entrapped patient.

The patient was extricated by firefighter and two patients were transported to the hospital by Hatzolah.

Three Car MVA Caused Heavy Delays In Chestnut Ridge


Chestnut Ridge - A three car accident occurred on Chestnut Ridge road (route 45) and Old Nyack Turnpike Tuesday morning, causing heavy delays in the area.

The road which leads into New Jersey can get really bad when minor accidents like this hold up traffic.

Three Alarm Fire Injures 17 FFs In Queens


Seventeen firefighters and two tenants were hospitalized after a three-alarm blaze broke out at a Queens building Monday, officials said.

The fast-moving fire erupted about 2:55 a.m. in the three-story building on 45th Ave. in Flushing and was brought under control just before 6 a.m., Fire Department officials said. The building has a coin laundry and other businesses on the ground floor and apartments above.

Brooklyn - A minor MVA accured on the Brooklyn Queens Expressway East bound near the Atlantic avenue exit.

Spring Valley - Emergency personnel rushed to the scene at N Myrtle Av and Church Street, where a taxi apparently drove onto a fence and turned to it's side, trapping the driver.

One FF Injured At Structure Fire In Haverstraw [VIDEO]


One firefighter suffered a laceration to the hand while battling a fire that destroyed a two-story home at 78 Sharp St. this afternoon. The firefighter, whose identity was not available, was taken to Nyack Hospital.

The fire was brouhgt under control in less then an hour. No other injuries were reported.

Patient Transported By Air In Monticello [VIDEO]

Monticello - Catskills Hatzolah requested a Medevac for a patient in an unknown type of serious condition on Thursday night.

A landing zone was set up by Monticello Fire Dept at the Shop Rite parking lot, were the Hatzolah Ambulance met with the chopper.

VIDEO: Man Runs Over NYPD Officers Foot




Manhattan/SoHo - A situation were a driver drove over an NYPD officers foot - as he was writing him a parking ticket - was cought on camera.

In the video taken by YouTube user Damrys7 you can see the driver of the Ferrari 458 Spider getting into the car while the officer is writing the ticket. A he started to move the vehicle, the officer tells him to stop, but the driver resisted.

Two Car MVA On Route 52


Woodridge - The Catskill Hatzolah were called to the scene of an auto accident on the route 52 and Dairyland road.

There was no transport to the hospital, RMA's were signed.

FDNY EMS Members Save Three People in Submerged Car


Queens - FDNY EMTs Marilyn Arroyo and Jimmy Guailacela from Station 46 risked their lives to save three elderly people trapped in a submerged vehicle on Cooper Avenue on Aug. 15.

A call was received at around 1:30 p.m. for people trapped in a car beneath an overpass.

When EMTs arrived, they said they saw three people – an elderly man and two elderly women – who could not exit the vehicle. The car was three-quarters full of rainwater and was continuing to fill with water flowing in like a river from the heavy rain.

Heavy Rain Caused MVA On Route 59


Monsey - A heavy rain and storm that swept through Rockland County on Wednesday afternoon caused a lot of damage to vehicles, houses and roads, including this car accident that occurred on route 59 near Monsey Hights road.

Hatzolah EMS transported two patients to a local hospital with minor injuries.

Brooklyn - A team of FDNY members swept a stickball competition versus an NYPD team on Aug. 14 outside FDNY Headquarters in Brooklyn.

One Car Accident On Route 306


Monsey - Ramapo PD responded to a call of a car that was damaged as it hit an object on the sidewalk at the intersection of Route 306 and Mariner way, Wednesday morning.

The driver requested Hatzolah EMS for treatment, but a transporter was not needed and he signed an RMA.



Car Overturns In Two Car MVA [VIDEO]


Fallsburg - Catskills Hatzolah were called to the scene of a two car accident with one reported to be overturned on Heiden road near the Raleigh Hotel.

Upon arrival they found that the car flipped over and landed in the upright position.

Woodridge FD Gets New Tanker


The Woodridge fire department (dept-38) which is one of the Sullivan County (53) fire departments got a new tanker truck (38-21) this past Sunday.

Manhattan - FDNY Box 0617, the address 366 W 23rd street. Units were on scene for a fire in the deli of a five story 25x65 mixed occupancy.

Two 10-45's Code-4 (non-serious injury) was reported.

Three Car MVA On The FDR


East Side Manhattan - A three vehicle accident occurred on the FDR drive south bound Sunday night right at the Brooklyn Bridge ramp.

An NYPD officer flagged down a Chaverim member to assist, the member started stabilizing the patient, and  waited about 45 minuted till the ambulance arrived.

Medevac Requested By Catskill Hatzolah


White Lake - Catskill Hatzolah requested a medevac for a patient that obtained a severe head trauma.

As the ambulance was about to transport, an even more serious patient that was in "post cardiac arrest" in Woodbourne, had to flown by chopper. So this medevac diverted for that transport.

Child Drowned In Chalet Hotel Choppered In Serious Condition [VIDEO]



Woodbourne - Hatzolah rushed to the Chalet hotel in Woodborune for An 8 year old boy that drowned in pool.

The 8 year old child who was apparently drowning, was pulled from the pool and Catskill Hatzolah members who immediately arrived to the scene reported that he was unconscious and that he had gone into cardiac arrest R’l.

Child Struck In Monsey Transported In Serious Condition



Monsey - At approximately 4:45PM, Thursday afternoon, the Ramapo Police Department responded to the area of Roberts Road in the Town Of Ramapo for a report of a child struck by a motor vehicle. 

After investigation by responding officers it was determined that a five year old male child had run out from between parked vehicles in front of his residence on Roberts Road and was struck by a passing vehicle.

9 Injured After Serious MVA On The Route 17



Wurstboro - A vehicle returning to Camp Ruach Chaim in the Catskills from the Siyum HaShas at MetLife Stadium, was involved in a serious crash, early Thursday morning.


Sources tell CatskillScoop that a total of 9 people were inside the mini-van which was travelling on Route 17 near Exit 114, when it collided with a tractor-trailer.

VIDEO: Car Pushed Into Crosswalk By Accident Receives Summons




Brooklyn - A motorist traveling south bound on Nostrand Ave and Ave V hit two parked cars forcing one of them to end up in the cross walk.

A responding officer to the accident ticketed the car for being “parked in a crosswalk.”
