Two Garages Collapse after Retention Wall Fails in Crown Heights


Brooklyn - Two garages on Carroll Street collapsed into the back yard of a Crown Street house after a 20 foot retention wall failed and came crumbling down early Friday morning.

The incident occurred at around 7:00am in the back yards of 1644 Carroll Street and 743 Crown Street. One resident told CrownHeights.info that it sounded like “two trucks crashed into each other, like a bomb had gone off”. As he looked out his window, he saw the rear of his garage was missing.

Crane Collapses In Manhattan, No Injuries Reported


Hells Kitchen - A construction crane collapsed across a busy Manhattan street Monday and landed on a flatbed truck loaded with huge air conditioners.

The crane was lifting the heavy air-conditioning units at 438 W. 38th St. in Hells Kitchen when the huge boom suddenly gave way and crashed down on top of the truck.

One Dead, Few Others Injured In Brooklyn Construction Collapse


Two workers were pulled from the debris of a building under construction after it collapsed in Brooklyn. The incident took place at 214 Carlton Avenue in the Clinton Hill section shortly after 9 a.m. Monday, where a 4-story building was under construction. Both workers were rushed to Brooklyn Hospital after having been trapped in the dirt in the basement.

One worker was pronounced dead on arrival. The other is in critical condition.
