Kiryas Joel EMS named top EMS agency of the year in Orange County

KIRYAS JOEL – The Village of Kiryas Joel volunteer emergency service will be recognized as the EMS agency of the year by the Orange County Emergency Medical Services council at its annual dinner on Wednesday. The Orange County EMS Council is a non-profit organization serving 24 emergency medical services in the county.

Kiryas Joel - Multiple Fire companies from the surrounding areas assisted the KJFD at a fire in a 6 family condominium Wednesday afternoon.

The fire started approximately 1:30 PM in a 3 story multiple dwelling located at 6 Premishlan Way, and it took fire fighters over 6 hours to bring the fire under control.

Fatal Pedestrian Struck In Kiryas Joel Under Investigation

Kiryas Joel - Hatzolah EMS and the Village public safety responded Tuesday at approximately 1200 hours to the scene of a reported pedestrian that was struck on Satmar drive and Siger court.

Anastacio Vasquez of Spring Valley, NY was collecting trash for the Village of Kiryas Joel Sanitation Department. While attempting to cross the roadway, according to NY State Police officials. Vasquez was struck by an unknown vehicle and subsequently died at the scene. 

Missing Boy Found Safe In Kiryas Joel

Kiryas Joel - The KJ EMS and the Village public safety set up a search for a missing 3 year old boy that did not arrive to school on Wednesday morning.

Mutual Aid was requested from the KJFD, Chaverim of KJ and the NY State Police.

Kiryas Joel - Firefighters responded early Tuesday evening to the scene of a reported structure fire at 5 Buchanan Drive in the village of Kiryas Joel.

Arriving officers instantly requested mutual aid from surrounding fire departments to assist and cover for a fully involved fire.

Bomb Threat Under Investigation In Kiryas Joel

Kiryas Joel - State Police and a hazmat team investigated a bomb threat that was phoned in to a residence in the Village of Kiryas Joel early Monday afternoon. The call was apparently a hoax.

The phone call to a residence on Satmar Drive brought out State Police and local firefighters along with a police K-9 and hazmat personnel.
