Two Garages Collapse after Retention Wall Fails in Crown Heights


Brooklyn - Two garages on Carroll Street collapsed into the back yard of a Crown Street house after a 20 foot retention wall failed and came crumbling down early Friday morning.

The incident occurred at around 7:00am in the back yards of 1644 Carroll Street and 743 Crown Street. One resident told CrownHeights.info that it sounded like “two trucks crashed into each other, like a bomb had gone off”. As he looked out his window, he saw the rear of his garage was missing.

Car Overturns, Pinning Driver In Brooklyn Accident


Crown Heights - Emergency personnel responded to the scene Thursday morning, of an overturned vehiucle with the driver that was pinned inside.

The FDNY, NYPD ESU and Hatzolah EMS were all on scene. Patients was transported to the hospital in serious but not likely (to die) condition.

Car Overturns, Injuring Father And 3 Kids In Brooklyn


Crown Heights - A violent collision between an SUV and dump truck left a father and his three children miraculously with only scrapes and bruises, despite rolling over and slamming into a house.

The crash occurred at around 11:00am in the intersection of Brooklyn Avenue and East New York Avenue. The SUV, a blue Subaru, was traveling down Brooklyn and was broadsided by the dump truck, which was carrying a full load of sand. The collision sent the SUV spinning and rolling over onto the sidewalk.

Crown Heights - A boy was hit by a speeding minivan in front of Yeshiva Chovevei Torah Monday afternoon, he was thrown over thirty feet and sustained serious injuries.

Drunken Man Reverses Limo Into Brother-In-Law, Killing Him [VIDEO]


Crown Heights - A 53-year-old man was killed after he was struck by a limousine driven by his drunken brother-in-law, police sources said Monday.

Viktor Avadyayev was struck by a 2007 Chrysler limo Sunday shortly before 7 p.m. at Bedford Avenue and Kings Highway, police said.

4th Alarm Fire Rips Through Crown Heights Home


Eight firefighters were hospitalized after battling a blaze in Brooklyn’s Crown Heights neighborhood during the night, with one listed in serious condition in New York Hospital’s Burn Unit.

The fire broke heart in the heart of the Lubavitch community at Carol Street and Kingston Avenue at 02:30. ABC News reports that while many of the residents were able to get out of the building on their own, at least 12 had to be rescued and fire marshals are labeling the blaze as “suspicious” because it spread so quickly. Chabad websites report the building that was engulfed in flames was home to many frum families.
