Man critically injured after hookah lounge explodes on McDonald Ave

BROOKLYN – A man working on the opening of a hookah lounge in a Brooklyn building is in critical condition after chemicals he was using exploded.

West Haverstraw - 1:38PM: A home on Zarriello Lane exploded following a gas leak. 


According to initial reports, Firefighters were at the door of the townhouse when the explosion occurred. The explosion caused large gas-fed blaze and evacuations of nearby homes. 


At least two West Haverstraw firefighters were injured. A medevac was initially called to transport them to a hospital, but for reasons unknown at this point, were taken by ground to Westchester Medical center in serious condition.
