Two Aitlifted After Serious Accident On Rt-17 In Goshen



GOSHEN – A man and woman, who were standing on the driver’s side outside their minivan on Route 17 eastbound near exit 124 in the Town of Goshen late Sunday, were struck by an oncoming car and thrown some 100 feet.

Elderly Dies After Drowning In Sullivan County


Loch Sheldrake - A Five Towns man died Friday afternoon after being found at the bottom of a Loch Sheldrake swimming pool.

Saul Klausner, was found at the bottom of the pool at approximately 5 PM by a teenage girl who ran to call for help.

NYSP Release Results Of “Speed Week” Campaign



From August 6 through August 12, 2014, the New York State Police issued 22,176 tickets, more than 10,000 of them for speeding during “Speed Week”.

During the campaign, the New York State Police targeted speeding and aggressive drivers across the state.

During the campaign in Troop T, a Trooper stopped a speeding motorcycle on I-87 in the town of Athens for driving 129 in a 65 mph zone. Roddy Yagan, 23, of Liverpool, was ticketed and also charged with reckless driving, a misdemeanor.

NY State Trooper Dies Following MVA On The NYS Thruway


Albany - New York State Police Superintendent Joseph A. D’Amico is saddened to announce the death of Trooper David W. Cunniff. Trooper Cunniff was last assigned to Troop T, Fultonville.

On December 17, 2013, Trooper Cunniff succumbed to injuries sustained during a motor vehicle accident on the New York State Thruway. Shortly after 8:00 pm on December 16, Trooper Cunniff was conducting a traffic stop when he was struck by a tractor trailer.

NYSP Trooper Dies Following On-duty Injury


New York State Police Superintendent Joseph A. D’Amico is saddened to announce the death of Trooper Winston I. Martindale, Jr. of Troop F-New Hampton.

Trooper Martindale died Wednesday, July 24, 2013, of complications from an on-duty injury he sustained in 2011. On May 9, 2011, while responding to the crash of two small airplanes in the Town of Waywanda, Trooper Martindale fell on a piece of equipment, causing internal bleeding to his abdomen. Though seriously injured, Trooper Martindale struggled with heavy wreckage to assist victims of the plane crash and stayed at the crash scene for six hours. Ultimately, both pilots of the single engine airplanes were killed.

Fatal Pedestrian Struck In Kiryas Joel Under Investigation


Kiryas Joel - Hatzolah EMS and the Village public safety responded Tuesday at approximately 1200 hours to the scene of a reported pedestrian that was struck on Satmar drive and Siger court.

Anastacio Vasquez of Spring Valley, NY was collecting trash for the Village of Kiryas Joel Sanitation Department. While attempting to cross the roadway, according to NY State Police officials. Vasquez was struck by an unknown vehicle and subsequently died at the scene.

Marlborough Accident Claims Life Of Local Resident

Highland - On December 2, 2012 at approximately 7:44 am, State Police from Highland responded to a two-car motor vehicle accident on State Route 9W in the Town of Marlborough.  

Preliminary investigation revealed that a 2009 Honda operated by Eugene Antwi, age 26, of Brooklyn, NY, was traveling northbound on State Route 9W when his vehicle entered the southbound lane and collided with a 1999 Ford that was traveling southbound.  The driver of the Honda and three occupants in his vehicle were transported to St. Francis Hospital in Poughkeepsie by ambulance for medical attention.

NYSP - Thanksgiving Weekend Traffic Safety Initiative

The New York State Police conducted a traffic safety initiative over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend to heighten the public's awareness of the dangers of impaired driving, speeding and failure to use safety restraints.
