NYPD Re-Erects Plaque in Memory of Two Fallen Detectives, Killed During Boro Park Robbery, at 66th Precinct




New York City Police Commissioner Bill Bratton on Monday unveiled a rededicated plaque honoring two brave NYPD detectives who were killed in the line of duty during an armed robbery in the Borough Park neighborhood of Brooklyn 53 years ago, at a ceremony in front of the NYPD’s 66th Precinct in Brooklyn.

FDNY Engine 282/Ladder 148 Celebrates 100 Years




Borough Park - Past and present FDNY members gathered at Engine 282/Ladder 148 on May 15, to celebrate the firehouse’s centennial.

“When this firehouse first opened 100 years ago, it stood as a symbol of safety, service and protection to a growing community,” Fire Commissioner Salvatore Cassano said. “And thanks to dedication of the members who have served here over those 100 years, it continues to stand for those ideas today.”

Graduation For 781 New NYC Police Officers


Recruits Were Born in 49 Countries and Speak 40 Foreign Languages


Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg and Police Commissioner Raymond W. Kelly today presided over a graduation ceremony for 781 new police officers at Barclays Center in Brooklyn. The class has completed six months of intensive Police Academy training and all members will be assigned to Operation Impact, in which rookie officers are paired with experienced supervisors and deployed to patrol higher-crime neighborhoods. The first major citywide deployment for this class is the Fourth of July, including the detail for the Macy's fireworks display on Manhattan's west side.

DHS of NYS, Jerome M. Hauer, Met With Law Enforcement IN Ulster County


In preparation for the summer season, the commissioner of the Division of Homeland Security of New York State, Jerome M. Hauer, met with the Sheriffs, New York State Police Commanders, New York City Department of Environmental Protection, New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, Local Police Chiefs and first responders of the Delaware, Duchess, Sullivan, and Ulster counties.

The meeting, hosted at the Ulster County Sheriff's Office at the Ulster County Law Enforcement Center, served as a medium to discuss pertinent safety and security issues related to the populace influx including vacationers and summer campers.

Misaskim Opens its New Williamsburg Garage


On Thursday, November 15th, Misaskim volunteers in Williamsburg celebrated an important milestone – the opening of their new garage. Misaskim’s Williamsburg division plays a key role in Misaskim’s operations. Our Williamsburg volunteers oversee all Shiva G’mach operations in Williamsburg, Manhattan, Crown Heights, and the Lower East Side. The new garage will enable Misaskim to store much needed equipment in these areas and thus expedite delivery and other services to grieving families in these areas.

Stony Point Fire Dept To Celebrate New Substation


Stony Point - The Stony Point Fire District wants to celebrate the completion of its new substation construction project with people in the community.

The old substation at 199 Central Highway, also known as Route 210, was a former gas station converted into a firehouse. The building, which was purchased by the district in 1974, was expanded in 1987. But the need for a bigger and more functional building became obvious as early as 1999, with firetrucks getting bigger over the years to meet new safety regulations, district officials said.

Four FDNY Chiefs Promoted, Including Chief of Operations


Four FDNY staff chiefs were promoted in a ceremony at FDNY Headquarters on Aug. 30, including Chief James Esposito to the rank of Chief of Operations.

He replaces Chief of Operations Robert Sweeney, who is retiring from the FDNY to become Commissioner of the Yonkers Fire Department.
